Yesterday I learnt how to use windows movie maker. We took a whole heap of photos and imported into the movie maker and now I am trying to create an old fashioned type movie all about kids playing an algebraic game!!! It was so much fun!!! The kids playing the game wanting to win and the maths questions they asked!!! Fantastic. They are now looking forward to the movie. Popcorn time!!

Cutting kids loose with Windows Movie Maker is fun too – they will only need a few hints and sources for pics – Pics4Learning I think – and music – podsafe – and away they go!!

Your use of a Movie Maker in maths, which you showed today, was inspiring. It just showed how you can bring a lesson to life!
The use of students teaching each other was also obviously very powerful and your students will have benefited enormously from this unit.
Who would have thought algebra could be so fun?!

It was so much fun making the movie and what I really noticed was how many questions the students asked whilst playing the game. The fact that someone wanted to win (and be shown in the movie jumping for joy) was highly motivating. It was very engaging for myself. I have been teaching for 20 years and have always been thrilled by maths – to be able to pass this on is fabulous.
